Why It Is Important To Keep Your Carpet Clean

It is a well known fact that carpets give decor to your home, keep your feet warm, provide better cushion, and many more. Although it has many functions, carpets can also be a home for bacteria, food residues, dust, and other things you can imagine. These factors provide enough reason for you and your children to develop allergies. That is why you should know the importance in keeping your carpet clean.

Why Should I Clean My Carpet?

Diseases and allergies can develop from different reasons – they can be caused by bacteria or dust accumulating all over your carpets. Letting your children play and walk over dirty carpets may let them develop these allergies, so it is safe to say that cleaning your carpet is a must.

Cleaning Methods Ready For You

Now that you have finally decided to clean your carpet, it is time to discover different methods on how to clean it. You may think that getting your vacuum and making it suck the dirt away is enough to clean your carpet, but unfortunately it’s not. Vacuuming your carpet doesn’t get all the dust and bacteria, which is why we have prepared a few cleaning methods you can follow to get your carpets clean.

  • Steam Cleaning – most people misunderstood the idea of steam cleaning because they think the water used would leave mildew on their carpets. Steam cleaning uses hot steam rather than water and is often done by professionals. But if you prefer to do it on your own, you can always rent out equipment, just make sure you know how to properly use the equipment and don’t stay long on a certain spot to avoid damaging your carpet.
  • Encapsulation – this method uses synthetic detergent as a base that would crystallise into powder when dried. When the applied cleaning foam dries, the dirt particles encapsulated into powder can now be vacuumed or brushed. Although encapsulation has good cleaning results, it cannot thoroughly clean heavily soiled carpets.
  • Bonnet Cleaning – this carpet cleaning method is mostly used in hotels. Bonnet cleaning shows good “surface” results for your carpet. This method uses a heavy duty motorised machine with a spinning pad that has been deep into a cleaning solution to clean the top area of your carpet.
  • Dry Carpet Cleaning – dry carpet cleaning uses a motorised counter rotating brush machine to expose the carpet fibre to allow the cleaning compound to settle inside, thus resulting in a deep and thorough cleaning result.

How Often Should I Clean My Carpet?

Most professionals recommend vacuum cleaning your carpet every two weeks and have it professionally cleaned once a year. But it actually depends on the people living inside your house and the amount of dirt that has accumulated on your carpet. If you have kids, spillage of food and dirt can happen any time, thus you have to clean your carpet more often than 12 months. If you also have pets, carpet cleaning should be more frequent than usual.
